About Us

You Are Welcome Here

The congregation invites you to worship with us at 10:30 am on Sunday morning and to participate in other programs of the church.  The following is intended to give you an idea of what you will see on Sunday morning and provides a sampling of congregational programming.

Sunday Morning Worship:

Minister – Responsible for the spiritual leadership, pastoral care, church administration, and leadership of our worship.  Congregations affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) search and call their ministerial staff.

Lay Participation - The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is built on a strong foundation of ministry by the lay members of the congregation.  You will see many of us participating in a variety of roles every Sunday Morning.

Liturgists – Lead the Call to Worship, Invocation and read Scripture.

Elders - Elected by the congregation, Elders are responsible for the Spiritual Life of the congregation.  In addition to providing spiritual support for our members, they sponsor a number of programs to promote personal spiritual growth.  The Elders at the communion table offer prayers and serve communion to the Deacons.

Deacons – Elected by the congregation, they gather the offering and serve communion.  Deacons provide a variety of other services to the congregation.

Communion - The practice of Holy Communion is a central element of our weekly worship.  Communion is celebrated infellowship with one another and aspeople of God.  All believers in Christ are invited to partake of the bread and cup.

"Growing in Faith to Love and Serve"

This mission statement for the congregation connects a growing faith and loving service to one another and the larger community.  Our programming is intended to support that mission through a variety of ministries.

Study Groups - The denomination was founded in the spirit of individualism, personal initiative, and freedom from corporate authority of the American frontier.  Our educational programs foster sharing of a diversity of opinions about spiritual matters in the interest of broadening our faith perspectives:

Prayer Ministry – A congregational prayer chain provides support for non-confidential prayer requests.  A small group meets weekly and provides prayer support including confidential requests.  The community can make prayer requests known 24/7 by email and phone.

Men and Women’s Ministry – A women’s groups meet monthly, during the day, for fellowship and study.  They also provide financial support for church projects and community organizations.  A men’s group meets monthly for breakfast and study.  A group of men meets twice monthly to provide routine maintenance to the building and grounds.

Food Bank – Canned and paper goods are collected each week and distributed through two food pantries in the city.

Community Service – Members of the congregation volunteer with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Neighborhood Houses and many other service organizations.
