Outreach

Hamilton Christian Church

Disciples of Christ

Hamilton Christian Church considers itself a Congregation that reaches out to local, national, and world causes that aid the needy. We devote a part of our pledged income plus extra gifts that come in for various purposes. Our membership volunteers for many of our local causes.

Outreach programs use a percentage of the funds which come into the General Fund from pledges and gifts. This money will be devoted to 4 principal causes: Disciples Mission Fund, Neighborhood Houses, South East Gateway Area (SEGA), and Isaiah 58 Ministries. A specified percentage of each month’s receipts will be sent to these causes. In addition, the Congregation has supported other Outreach causes by giving above and beyond our pledges. These above and beyond causes include: Special Day Offerings, NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) CORP (County Older Residents Program), Habitat for Humanity St. Louis, Festival of Sharing in Missouri, Heifer Project International, BRO (Board of Religious Organizations), and several area Food Banks.

Heifer Project International Milk Menagerie – The Lectionary Sunday School class would like to invite you to participate in the latest Heifer Project.  In the past  the class, with the help of the congregation, collected $5,000 for an Ark of Animals, and just recently completed collecting $2,500 to purchase honey bees.

The class has now decided to continue its contributions through a gift called the Milk Menagerie.  The class hopes to collect $1,000 to purchase one Heifer, two Goats, and one Water Buffalo.  If you would like to participate in this project, please make your contributions payable to “Hamilton Christian Church” and note on the memo line that it is for the “Heifer Project’.

Food Bank

Donating and delivering food is an ongoing project each Sunday at HCC. Bring your canned food or non-perishable items and put them in the baskets located in the hallways. The food banks are always in need of food and they greatly appreciate HCC’s generosity.

Festival of Sharing – Each year, HCC participates in the Festival of Sharing (http://www.umocm.com/festival.htm)  September 2007 was a huge success.  Hamilton Christian Church was a collection point for kits and other donations.   Please plan to continue this success by participating in the 2008 Festival scheduled for September 28, 2008.

Christmas Stockings/Hat Trees -  A Hamilton Tradition! In 2007, the congregation made, filled, and donated 172 stockings, 183 hats, and extra toys and quilts.
